A secure fixing point for polycarbonate
A thermal washer is a small but important part of a polycarbonate structure. It holds the sheet against the frame, distributes screw load more evenly and reduces the risk of cracking or indentation around the fixing point.
Why use a thermal washer?
- creates a tighter seal around the fixing hole;
- helps limit the entry of water, cold air and dirt;
- allows the sheet to move as temperatures change;
- helps prevent excessive compression of the polycarbonate;
- covers the screw head for a tidy finish.
Applications
For installing polycarbonate sheets on suitable frames for greenhouses, patio covers, canopies, entrance roofs, gazebos, windbreaks and partitions.
Why correct installation matters
Polycarbonate expands when warmed by the sun and contracts as it cools. The fixing hole must therefore leave room for movement. Tighten only until the seal sits against the sheet; overtightening may deform the panel and shorten the service life of the connection.
