Starting up the grill
To determine the temperature of coal you must hold a hand at approximate distance of 10 cm above the coal (meaning, above the grill grid). If the hand becomes very hot and it is impossible to hold above coal, the temperature is suitable for grilling. If you can hold your hand above the coal for more than four seconds – the temperature is too low.
It is recommended to line the grill with tinfoil, since it reflects heat and provides easier grill cleaning later. Make small holes in tinfoil in places where the grill has vents for air circulation. You will create a particularly good taste if you use kindling, paper or cooking oil instead of flammable liquid to start the grill. Grill can be “divided” in two sections: a hotter section with blazing red coals, and a cooler section. This will allow you to cook products with different temperature requirements more conveniently.
